A cruise vacation can be the best holiday you have ever had but you must be prepared and know a few things before your cruise holiday begins.

When you pack your bag always remember your passport and relevant documentation for the cruise ship company. You will need to bring necessary clothing for swimming, parties and other activities. For cruise wear the men should bring shorts, jeans, slacks, T-shirts and sports shirts are suitable everywhere. For the ladies, shorts, slacks, casual skirts and sundresses. For footwear bring sandals, sports shoes and evening shoes. Special clothing and equipment for diving, other sports or for visiting religious buildings is usually supplied by the cruise line but don’t forget to check when you book.

There are numerous activities to enjoy onboard and ashore on your cruise vacation. Living in a floating hotel has its advantages but you must always be aware of cruise ship safety.

Booking is very simple. You can visit a great number of websites and travel agents offering a cruise vacation to your chosen destinations. You can buy a cruise line package that includes flights, transfers and cruise; a travel agent package where they organise each element for you or you buy the cruise only and organise your own flights and transfers.

Expect to pay a deposit on booking of 10% of the cruise package cost with the balance payable 60 days before departure. Watch out for booking fees and credit card handling fees. You will also need travel insurance.
